Our Timber
Every Zest product is unique because each piece of timber has its own distinctive, natural features
At Zest, our products are made of material from well-managed, FSC®-certified forests and PEFC-certified and controlled sources, and everything we create meets the highest standards of sustainability.
The company ensures that all wood and wood-related products are certified to FSC® and PEFC standards.
We use slow-grown softwood to create our products. This means that the timber we select is as dense, strong, and unblemished as any hardwood.
Always remember that wood is a natural material and, as such, will fit in beautifully with any outdoor space.
About Zest Timber
Sustainable European Redwood
At Zest, we've been sourcing quality timber products for generations. Our products are made of material from well-managed, FSC® and PEFC-certified forests and controlled sources, so that everything we produce meets the highest standards of sustainability.
This means forests are used in a way that maintains biodiversity, regeneration, and nature conservation.
Slow-grown softwood is a particularly dense material, which is due to the very cold growing conditions in Eastern Europe. The trees are felled when they are up to 100 years old.
Our manufacturing partners ensure that all the best parts of the tree are used, with nothing wasted, and the timber is checked after sawing for quality.
The natural defects, such as splits or loose knots, are removed and plugged, and this does not compromise the strength of the product.
Wood splits and cracks are a natural and unavoidable part of the seasoning process, which happens when this natural material is exposed to the prevailing weather and the surface of the wood dries quicker than the centre. This does not, however, impact the structure of your Zest wooden garden product.
In addition, Zest with its main supply partners is dedicated to replanting woodland and is collaborating on the nurture of wildlife habitats.
We use slow-grown softwood to make the Zest range. Slow-grown timber is especially dense with minimal natural blemishes, so it is strong, durable and beautiful. Trees grow slowly in the cold climate of Eastern Europe producing stronger and close grained timber ideal for making quality outdoor products.
